Mike Phillips, the son of Liberian immigrants, grew up understanding the privileges of America and the challenges of Liberia. His parents came to America with nothing, but believing in the American Dream. Although Mike’s parents were illiterate, they emphasized the importance of education to Mike and his 14 siblings. When Mike decided to drop out of college to pursue a career in real-estate instead of accounting and finance, he found himself homeless.
